What Is Truth?
(Don't Change The Map)

Guy Adams

Certain Truths should remain constant, but in modern day America, Truth is now being questioned on a number of fronts.

Someone emailed me recently, saying, "There is no such thing as 'the truth' the moment you make one possibility the only truth, [so] that no other possibilities can exist." To that I'd reply that "truths" only have one side. That's what makes them "Truths." For example, take homosexuality and homosexual marriage. There is only one correct viewpoint here. Homosexuality will never be "mainstream." If you don't believe that homosexuality is wrong simply because God says it's wrong, just take a look at Nature. You will never see two male Grizzly bears attempt to have sex with each other. And when was the last time you saw two male lions at the zoo attempt to have sex? Truth demands that homosexuality remains wrong. Wisdom is screaming at us: homosexual marriage is bad for the country. Truth and Wisdom oppose it.

Take abortion, for another example. Technologies developed since Roe v Wade in 1973 make it unmistakably clear for us to see that the fetus is, in fact, a real human being, created in God's image. In essence then, abortion is murder. There is no other "possibility" to consider here. And the crime of murder is never a viable "possibility." See where I'm headed?

Agenda of evil

I recently heard that Massachusetts is actually considering decriminalizing bestiality. It is already legal in the Netherlands. Anyone who wants this is demented and pernicious. He is destroying his culture from within. Will Durant perceptively said that "A civilization is not conquered from within until it has conquered itself from within." Indeed, Consider the hot topic of child-abuse. Raping a child is always wrong, as all rape is, but there are certain groups in America that actually want the age of consent lowered to twelve to decriminalize adult-child sex. Can you spell the American Circumnavigational Liberties Union? How about the American Criminal Liberties Union or the American Communist Liberties Union? They are decidedly un-American. And no matter how you spell it, decriminalizing child rape will never make it right. Truth opposes it. Prettying up pedophilia with a value-neutral label like inter-generational sex doesn't make it any more pleasant to the victim. And NAMBLA's man-boy-love wet dream is evil and wicked, and that's the Truth. NAMBLA's website arrogantly says "Freedom is indivisible. The liberation of children, women, boy-lovers, and homosexuals in general, can occur only as complementary facets of the same dream." Did you get that? In my opinion, that is reprehensible and abhorrent. Beyond that, it is insidious and even diabolical. Truth adamantly opposes them. Some people argue that you can find Truth by eliminating all that is not True. So it is with these things.

Leftist America is suffering from a Truth Deficit Disorder. Liberal leading Democrats repeat their seriously incorrect chant that "Bush lied," but they lie to us every day by advancing an agenda of evil under color of fairness and decency. Liberal judges, misusing the concept of judicial review, continually usurp We the People. Americans opposed abortion, but the Supreme Court lied and said otherwise and 45 million babies died as a result. Most Americans want God in their public lives, yet the Supreme Court said that there is a mythical "wall of separation between church and state." I've read the Constitution and I don't see it anywhere. Americans overwhelmingly oppose homosexuality, yet the Supreme Court recently said that there is a Constitutional right to sodomy. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? Michael Savage says that Liberalism is a mental disease. Maybe so. Regarding the war in Iraq, are Liberals ready to die for their beliefs as the brave American soldier is? I doubt it.

In his email, this person continued:

"How often are we trying to always be right and blame someone else for the problems in our own lives and have no respect or tolerance for those that have a different view.... There's nothing good or bad, right or wrong, about it. So what does it mean if one side is right and the other is wrong (it's all relative, and what was considered the right thing 50 years ago is not the case today.) The problem still remains. It only makes a difference to our egos to continue to fight to determine who's right and wrong."

Wow, that was not very well thought-out. We have a similar problem going on now with the ill-considered debate over whether the U.S. Constitution is a 'living document' or whether it was written in stone, so to speak. When we have a roadmap that has guided the country successfully for over two hundred years, why change it? The motivation for changing or replacing the Constitution is motivated by a hate of the Truth. This is the same Truth that tells us that some things are wrong and are outlawed by God. Don't change it. We all love our mom's cooking, I know that I sure do! She makes great ham and bean soup. I wouldn't dream of asking her to change it. Hey Mom, would you please take out the ham and replace it with liver? It would taste awful, and altering our Constitution apart from the appropriately difficult amendment process tastes equally bad to most Americans. Don't alter the recipe. Our Constitution did not come with an expiration date.

To me, this man's email argument sounds like the new religion of moral relativism, which is one of the reasons that there is so much more obvious perversion and evil around today, and most of it goes unchallenged in the name of political correctness, "tolerance," and "inclusiveness." Modern-day America, once a strong moral force for good in the world, now leads the world in immorality. Over the last hundred years, we gave the nations of the world Hope and Liberty, and now we give it porn, Gansta Rap and "gay marriage." It's terribly appalling. I actually heard some Americans say that it was "cute" when Elton John, 58, "married" his longtime partner David Furnish, 43. No one even bothered to comment on the great age discrepancy. But "cute"? No. What's so cute about two men having anal sex? Hollywood has got it all wrong. It's not the mountain that is the focus — the country's back is what's broken. And what's "cute" about throwing the Rulebook away and blessing such an unnatural union?

The country as a whole has lost its moral compass. Left is now right and up is now down. This is the FIRST time in history that any country has seriously entertained the idea of placing the most unnatural act imaginable under the hallowed institution of marriage. But that is just the natural consequence of forty years of legislating God out of most areas of public life.

Truth is "truth" precisely because it IS Truth, if you get my meaning. For instance, if you want to go to Texas, you go get a map and follow the directions. If you're cooking a casserole, you follow the directions in the recipe if you want your guests to enjoy the meal. If you want to know "truth," you also get a map — you go to the Bible. It is irrelevant if you do not happen to believe it. The explosive truth in nuclear physics ignores the concept of confinement. Truth has strength. Gravity does not yield to the fool who ignores it and jumps off a cliff to their peril.

I maintain that we have arrived at a moral cliff in America with abortion and now with the glorification of aberrant homosexual behavior. The issue of whether we should or should not legitimize homosexual marriage may have once seemed like a complicated issue, as some still say it is, but as Alan Keyes says, "Now having arrived at the abyss, it's all very clear. All the options we thought we had are now gone." There aren't too may choices here, folks. Now we either jump off into the void, lacking all precepts of morality and in effect becoming a conscienceless country; or we turn around, heed the "Truth" and do as the Bible says. We'll endeavor to do our best to live our lives according to Truth. With Truth, everyday is not a winding road.

Pontius Pilate once fatefully asked, "What is truth?" Truth does not alter itself to suit those whom it has the authority to envelope. And Truth finally comes as a sometimes-brutal conqueror only to those who have given up the willingness to receive it as a friend.
