The Gathering Storm

Guy Adams

There is a Gathering Storm in America today.

Overwhelmingly, in poll after poll, Americans do NOT want homosexual marriage. Not in California, not in Massachusetts, not in any other state. No matter what you may hear, this is not seriously in dispute. According to President Bush--in a statement he made on June 5, 2006--that clear majority is at least 71 percent. Forty-one states already have "defense of marriage acts" (DOMAs). So why then are our legislators so hesitant to vote for an amendment to our Constitution that prohibits same-sex marriage and restricts it to one man, one woman?

Some Republicans are normally afraid to vote for Marriage Amendments for fear of being called "intolerant" or "bigoted." But why would it be considered wrong or bigoted to stand up for what's right? Since when did doing the right thing go out of style? And since when has it become unfashionable to stand up for decency?

A few Democrats, by contrast, actually believe that homosexual marriage is acceptable, even desirable. Most, however, clearly support it for partisan reasons, placing the gaining of votes above principle. Hopefully, some Democrat legislators will prove me wrong and do the right thing Wednesday by voting for the Marriage Amendment.

There have only been twenty-seven amendments to our Constitution in the history of our nation, and on the whole, they have been important and needed. Now is such a time! Call your senators and voice your opinion!

Compromised core

I rented the DVD The Core a few months ago. The movie opens with the earth's core reversing its rotation, which in principle could never happen. That's about as absurd as America reversing her moral direction. But that is what's happening in America today with the glorification of homosexuality and promotion of unnatural same-sex marriage.

In the movie, in response to the reversed magnetic core, birds all over the world crash into buildings because they have lost their directional compass. With homosexuality and same-sex marriage, we are like those birds in The Core. We have discarded our moral compass, and our core moral values are being compromised. Our morality is no longer based upon true north, so to speak, and like those birds, we know not which way we go. As a result, society itself threatens to come crashing down.

You see, all morality involves some definition of right and wrong behavior, and homosexual relations have been recognized as wrong throughout all of man's history. History shows us that every society that has embraced the practice of homosexuality has perished shortly thereafter. An overt lack of morality in any nation leads to a fast downward spiral in other areas too.

The main reason for studying history is to learn from past mistakes, and to make a better future. We either protect the definition of marriage, or we throw out 2,000 years of Judeo-Christian morality, and in the end, we throw out America. Remember, in America it is the "majority" who decides what we will accept or not, and this model has worked nearly perfectly for two hundred years. Now is not the time to toss this model out for the one percent of homosexual Americans who prefer pleasure over principle.

Judeo-Christian morality

You may not even be a Christian, but you can still wholeheartedly say that Judeo-Christian morality and its restraints and definitions are good for you and for society. The Judeo-Christian God says, "Thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not steal. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor." Similarly, homosexuality and homosexual "marriage" are prohibited by God, and in fact by all other major religions. Like "thou shalt not kill," this prohibition is also good for you and society. This constraint preserves the natural order, and it reinforces natural law. In effect, it protects the community and the nation. Call your senators and let them know how you feel.

Homosexual marriage is morally wrong, but it's also a clear and very present danger, because the naturally ensuing "hate speech" laws can and will silence the Church and conservative citizenry--and a silenced Church and citizenry can comment on NOTHING! Not border security, not abortion, not anything. Mark my words, homosexual activists do not merely want to marry, they want all Americans to affirm and embrace their lifestyle, and beyond that, they want to silence all opposition to their lifestyle, using the full force of law. You just wouldn't believe the overly hateful emails I've received from some of them. They often hate themselves because of the great weight of guilt and shame they feel from violating God's order (men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error)-- and the only way to assuage their conscience, apart from repentance and turning to God, is to get the rest of society to accept their sin.

Calling their behavior "sin" is not hate speech, it is the truth. I do not hate gays, I do not advocate violence against them, and I do not demean their dignity as human beings, but if I fail to call it like it is, I betray myself. I would also be betraying my readers. Alan Keyes has said that "If we're not bearing witness, then we're not bearing witness" and I intend to bear witness and bring you the truth--and the truth is that God and even Nature opposes homosexuality. And if they oppose homosexuality, then same-sex "marriage" is irrelevant. It's really pretty clear, isn't it?

Redefining norms

There may be some of you who sincerely believe that this problem won't effect you. You may recall that Matt Barber was fired by Allstate for merely stating his view that homosexuality was wrong. Did Matt share his views at work? No, he shared them in a respectful manner on a private website! For details, see                  http://www.WorldNetDaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44961. Then see these two articles from World Net Daily, and ask yourself how mandated, pro-homosexual "diversity training" might have affected, or will effect, your workplace experience?

America's pro-homosexual Giants:

Corporate America snuggles up to 'gays':
http://www.WND.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=46425

Biblical scholar Sam Tsang says.

Legalizing homosexual marriage will greatly curtail the freedom of speech of those who believe that it is wrong. In granting them the privilege, the rights of the ordinary citizen who believes otherwise will be violated. At the bottom of this is our constitutional right, and not majority rule. The Constitution and not complete democracy and anarchy should be the basis of our argument.

Look at the "Gay Games" being hosted in Chicago this summer by Kraft Foods, Maxwell House coffee, Kool-Aid and Capri Sun drinks, Oscar Mayer meats, Jell-O Snacks, Oreo cookies, Nabisco Foods, Exelon, and Walgreens, among others. Why on God's green earth would an America company sponsor such an abysmal event? Here you have just one clear example out of thousands of how the gay agenda is recreating America according to its own perverted wishes.

"Diversity" used to relate to intermingling of races and ethnic cultures--and that was a good thing. The civil rights struggle was long overdue. Now these radical homosexual activists are attempting to get you to believe that theirs is a similar struggle. Nothing could be further from the truth! Corporate diversity training has gone from enabling African-Americans to achieve success in the workplace to meaning that "you must affirm and celebrate homosexuality." How did we get into this mess? For those of you who embrace "diversity" in principle, you are not necessarily rejecting diversity if you reject the notion that "gay rights" are "civil rights"--something they are not. I were a black civil rights activist, or if I were a black man or woman who went through the tumultuous civil rights struggle in the 1960's, I'd feel insulted by these homosexual activists, and greatly so.

Legislating morality

I've heard many people say, "You can't legislate morality!" Oh no? Where did all our welfare and unemployment programs come from, if not from "Love your neighbor"? Just where did we get that from? See, we legislate morality all the time, and we even legislate "Christian" morality. But you can legislate away your freedom, which is exactly what allowing homosexual marriage will do.

By constitutionally banning same-sex marriage, we are legislating our moral safety. And I maintain that Christian morality is good for the nation as a whole, because it says love thy neighbor as thyself. Christian morality is also good for homosexuals, because we are all mandated by God to protect all people from injustice and respect their inherent equal value before God. But we are not called to approve of their sin.

Full faith and credit

The Full Faith and Credit Clause of our Constitution says:

Full Faith and Credit shall be given in each State to the public Acts, Records, and judicial Proceedings of every other State. And the Congress may by general Laws prescribe the Manner in which such Acts, Records and Proceedings shall be proved, and the Effect thereof.

The first section of the Article requires states to give "full faith and credit" to the public acts, records, and court proceedings of other states, and this may mean homosexual marriage. So if one state legalizes such a marriage, as Massachusetts unbelievably did, then other states might be bound to honor it. Imagine, not only are federal judges overruling your wishes, this could also be reinforced through constitutional principles! This is just another reason why a constitutional amendment is so desperately needed, and needed now. Even if it fails to pass the Senate this week, the amendment issue will not go away. It'll be back. So at the very least, let them know that you want a constitutional amendment protecting marriage as we know it, between one man and one woman.

One caveat to this is that DOMAs conceivably allow individual states to not recognize a same-sex "marriage" from another state, but this is not enough of a protection. To his credit, former President Bill Clinton signed the initial DOMA into law, because even he recognized the dangers that homosexual marriage poses to the country. Yet even Clinton-Democrats refuse to acknowledge this achievement. Unfortunately, DOMAs don't go far enough, and that's why a constitutional Marriage Amendment is needed.

Special rights

As I said above, homosexuals claim that theirs is a "civil rights" struggle and that they are only fighting for equal rights. That is totally incorrect. In fact, it is an outright lie. (This is comprehensively outlined, documented, and explained in the excellent book The Homosexual Agenda, by Alan Sears & Craig Osten.) I simply cannot equate the honorable efforts and struggles of Martin Luther King with the activism of same-sex couples who merely want to engage in unnatural sexual acts with society's stamp of approval. That claim is insulting. Militant homosexuals do not want equality, they want superiority. They want to use the full force of law, along with corporate policies, to mandate your affirmation and celebration of homosexuality. RenewAmerica columnist Justin Darr said it perfectly in his insightful piece "The Rise of the Homosexual Super-Citizen." I urge you to read it. Justin says:

The life blood of a civil society is free speech and respect for the rule of law. Nobody likes to be criticized or have their beliefs questioned, but it is a necessary part of being free. If Americans allow any group to be elevated above the others to the point where saying "I think you are wrong" is a crime, then only a select few will be free and the rest subjugated.

We are not saying that homosexuals do not have rights. We are not saying homosexuals should be permitted to be the victims of prejudice or violence. What we are saying is being a homosexual does not make you better than anyone else, and that intimidating or silencing those who disagree with you through legislation is wrong. If anyone sees themselves as a Super Citizen, where their rights supersede those of all others and the law becomes a one sided force for their benefit alone, then our entire democratic society will be lost
.

Justin is correct. Gays don't want equal rights, they want special rights over and beyond yours. It is not the same as the valiant struggle for black civil rights, and any clear-thinking person can see that. Societal privileges are not constitutionally articulated--such as who gets a driver's license, for example. Not everyone gets a driver's license, and not everyone is granted a license to carry a gun. And the reasons are quite clear, aren't they? Likewise, we do not allow three adults to marry each other, either. These are reasonable restrictions imposed by society, are they not?

Homosexuals do not merely want the same rights you and I have--they already have them. They want extraordinary rights. Marriage is a "privilege" for purposes of procreation and enforcing the responsibilities of parents to their children. Some parents cannot have children, for no choice of their own, but that does not invalidate the original premise that marriage is intrinsically tied to procreation. Homosexuals cannot procreate, and therefore "marriage" is not necessary or relevant to them. See how simple that is?

Former presidential candidate Gary Bauer said  Monday: "
This national question requires a national solution, and on an issue of such profound importance, that solution should come from the people, not the courts. An amendment to the Constitution is necessary because activist courts have left our nation with no other choice. . . . A constitutional amendment will put a decision that is critical to American families and American society in the hands of the American people, which is exactly where it belongs. Democracy, not court orders, should decide the future of marriage in America."

I could not agree more. We either live under We the People, or we surrender our free speech liberties--whether willingly or by activist federal judges.

Lap-dance

You may be asking "Why should I care if two homosexuals want to get married--why should it affect me?" There are a few reasons you should be concerned. First, I am going to ask you to envision something that I would not ordinarily ask in polite company, but I've heard it said that "There are some people in America who will not reject homosexuality unless they see homosexuality." Following that, I'll give you a brief explanation of the dangers of "hate speech" laws as they relate to homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

Imagine that you go into your garage, unannounced, and you see your 14-year old son with his head in the lap of another boy in your car. Is this what you'd want for your son? Or imagine opening the bedroom door to your teenage daughter's slumber party and you see the apple of your eye, your sweet sixteen-year-old daughter whom you simply cannot wait to have grandchildren from, with her head buried under the sheets in another young girl's private area. See what I mean? I know that that vision is disturbing, but we must know what homosexuality is all about. Homosexuals do NOT want you to know the awful truth of their lifestyle, but this type of behavior is at the very core of it. One astute writer, Debra J.M. Smith, calls it "genital worship." Indeed. If this is what you want from your children, remain silent. If you want better for your offspring, write your senators immediately and tell them to vote for the proposed Marriage Amendment. You can use the sample script at the end of the article, or you can use your own words, but please, for the sake of our children and the nation as a whole, do call them and do it before Wednesday. Then do it again next month. Keep your side of the equation on their blackboard.

"Hate speech" laws will either silence the Church or jail the Church, and that's NOT happening on my watch! Anti-free speech laws regarding homosexuality are already on the books in Canada, The Netherlands, Denmark, and Sweden. They make it a felony to even gently criticize homosexuality, punishable by significant jail time. "Not in America!" you say--we have "freedom of speech!" Well, in Pennsylvania, where a pastor got charged with multiple counts of hate speech by merely saying that the Bible declares homosexuality to be wrong, so it is happening in America, right under our noses. Therefore, we need a constitutional amendment to restrict marriage as between one man and one woman, to invalidate the concept of hate speech laws regarding homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

We also need this amendment because activist and overly liberal federal judges are routinely overturning the expressed will of the American people. This amendment will put a stop, once and for all, to these tyrannical judges. This is our last, best, and only option in the matter. Good sense has failed. The separation of powers has failed. The will of the people has been thwarted again and again regarding this. States have voted "NO!" to same-sex marriage--yet judges have tossed these referendums out time and again, saying that they are "not constitutional." What? We exercise our constitutional right to vote, we overwhelmingly and continually vote against "gay marriage" and then some liberal judge overturns it? This amendment, whether passed this year or next, etc., is your constitutional tool to enforce the values our country was founded on before they are lost forever. This powerful tool takes the issues out of the courtroom and puts them into your hands, where they belong.

If we do not act while we still have the time--before same-sex marriage and the resulting hate-speech laws become the law of the land--we will surrender our right to free speech forever. Persecution has already begun, and it will get worse if we do not speak up forcefully, yet peacefully. How do we do that? Call your senators and representatives. If we do not speak out now while we can, then a day will come when those who speak out against homosexuality will be punished as "bigots" and "haters," which of course they are not because God is not a bigot or hater, and it is His law that says that homosexuality and homosexual marriage are wrong.

Consider:

Leviticus 18:22:
"You shall not lie with a male as those who lie with a female; it is an abomination."

Leviticus 20:13:
"If a man lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination."

Romans 1:26-27:
"For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions: for their women exchanged the natural use for that which is against nature. And in the same way also the men abandoned the natural use of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty for their error."

What more needs to be said?

So in the end, yes, we can take America back and we can, we must, and we shall! I will post the voting record of every senator who votes for and against this marriage amendment.

If you need a little more boost, see "The Present Crisis of 1776" at

Sample Script:

Dear Senator (or Representative)

I am adamantly opposed to homosexual marriage. As a constituent of yours, I ask you to vote for the Marriage Amendment, which would define marriage as only between one man and one woman. I believe that protecting traditional marriage is critical to the preservation of American society. I am not advocating discrimination or any abridgment of others' God-given or constitutional rights, but I ask you to vote for this Marriage Amendment and against any pro-homosexual legislation in the future.

Sincerely,
(your name, city and state)
